1. Home and the Infinite: A Tagore Song Cycle for Voice and Orchestra

World Premiere Commissioned by Duisburger Philharmoniker (2026)

A landmark orchestral work that reimagines six songs of Rabindranath Tagore as a song cycle, Home and the Infinite explores the relationship between the intimate and the universal, the personal and the transcendent—central themes in Tagore’s poetry and music. Conceived by Kamalini Mukherji and orchestrated by Bickram Ghosh, the work reinterprets Tagore through a contemporary transcultural musical idiom, bringing Indian classical and Eastern Mediterranean influences into dialogue with the symphony orchestra. The result is a distinctive orchestral soundscape of striking melodic richness and rhythmic complexity. Following its world premiere with the Duisburger Philharmoniker conducted by Stefan Blunier in July 2026, the work continues its European journey with a performance at the Milan Conservatory in March 2027.

2. Tagore Beyond Borders

Inspired by Tagore's lifelong engagement with cultures beyond India, the program imagines the musical encounters that shaped his vision of a connected world. Bringing together traditions from South Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Europe, it reveals unexpected affinities between distant musical cultures and gives contemporary expression to Tagore's internationalism. Commissioned and premiered by the Duisburger Philharmoniker in October 2025.

3. Day and Night

From the first light of dawn to the stillness of night, the Indian raga system has always understood time as music. Day and Night takes that understanding as its starting point, placing Tagore's songs — some newly arranged by composers Konstantia Gourzi (Greece), Barry Phillips (United States), and Mahan Mirarab (Iran) — in dialogue with original compositions by British composer David Bruce, creating a musical journey in which the cycle of the day becomes a journey across continents and traditions. The result is a distinctive and contemporary intercultural soundscape. Commissioned and premiered by the Duisburger Philharmoniker in May 2026.
